Let's start out by saying I measure a 4D with high arch & FAT TOES. I have been running in one model of a competitor for 4 years, and at 62 years old, a good shoe is imperative. The PROS: Plentiful toe box! Good wiggle room! Solidly made with no areas that appear thin or weak. Medium arch & SUPERB RESTITUTION! The cushion is the best of any trail shoe I have run in. Outsole is stable & balanced, no likely sprains. The colors are spectacular, though it does not affect running - just my mood. Good heel lock & easy tie laces. Tongue stays put. The CONS: NOT MANY & not a huge deal, but for the price, it could use a grabbier, tackier sole. Though they shed rocks well, they also tend to slip on rocks, especially in a smaller shoe. In the OTHER brand, I can wear a 6M because the foot fatness is accommodated by a good toe box, heel lock and snug fit in the instep, and it runs small to begin with. This shoe I actually COULD have worn the other style that is not so wide. I COULD have worn either a 5.5M in this shoe or the 6M in the other one that is not as wide. One last con - right over the bend in the foot - where your foot flexes behind the toes - this shoe tends to fold there and since the material is quite stiff and solid, it can bite down and put pressure so may not be suitable for really long runs. I have only run up to 8 miles and have half a dozen runs in them. In general a pretty terrific shoe for RL's first shoe offering.
