Super lite, tough enough to last a race season (like all the rest - lite doesn't last). This is my first "stage race" type bag I've owned so seek further guidance before purchasing because I am no expert. I used to use Dyneema fabric packs from Zpacks but these are even better. I wish the top of the bag wasn't white or there were a few options for color (black, grey, white) but I understand there isn't enough demand to provide that in a cottage industry.
I absolutely love this thing for big days, multi-day efforts or even for shorter runs-- I just cinch the cords down a bit on the back. It feels just like a running vest but has comfortably fit a sea-to-summit 40 degree sleeping bag, UberLite sleeping pad, pants, shell, poles, and 8000+ calories. I think that came out to 11/12 lbs and I had no issues on a two day effort. It also breathes very well on hot days. It is the most diverse vest I have ever owned and prefer it to my palante vest-pack, which makes my back so itchy! Highly recommend.
This is my first Raidlight product having purchased Ultra Direction in the past.
I also purchased the Raidlight active front pack as an extra storage option to test for week long self support racing.
My first impression was very well made, light and a great looking product.
It took me a while to figure out how to fit the front pack & the main pack together as I received no instructions and could not find anything online. But I got that figured out.
The vest has been excellent and the boa system to tighten in the pack works great. I am not totally in love with the chest straps as I like to pull these very tight. The elastic strap seems to be at its limit, so I will not be surprised if it breaks.
The roll down opening on the pack is excellent and I have already filled it to the max with 9kg of load.
No issues with anything with this weight.
I did find the top shoulder front buckles for the front pack carry the weight load for this section and have no protection from rubbing on the skin. So I have already added a small piece of neoprene on this area to protect my front shoulders.
Unfortunately I have already snagged the back pocket material which is a very light stretch material. So have torn a pocket of in the first few weeks. But I was pushing through rain forest at the time.
I love the long tube water bladders and the stretch material pockets. Makes removing & fitted water bladders very easy, especially under duress.
I find the bungee cord strap on the back works great, but you need to tighten it in a methodical way or it gets messy.
Conclusion: I am a BIG fan, great product
